With Radio Caroline’s 60th birthday this year, our June meeting will be an interesting & entertaining film archive, with photos and audio recordings - an affectionate history of the ‘60s ‘Offshore Radio’ and ‘Pop Pirate’ stations, with a Suffolk slant, presented by Charles Wright & Brian Nichols.

Although Radio Caroline is better known for broadcasting off the Essex coast, it spent its first 6 months broadcasting offshore from Felixstowe. It’s an interesting, fun talk that brings back memories. Says a previous audience member: “I would wholeheartedly recommend the Radio Caroline talk. I wasn’t particularly interested in Radio Caroline, but they made the subject so interesting I couldn’t stop telling people about it!”

The talk takes place in person and, for members only, on Zoom, at the Fromus Centre, Street Farm Road, Saxmundham, IP17 1AL (behind the Library). Charles and Brian will be speaking to us on Zoom and the talk starts at 2.30pm. No need to book – just turn up — at £1.00 for members, £3.00 for visitors, including tea/coffee/biscuits. Good, free car-parking. Only members can take part in our meetings on Zoom, but it only costs £8 for a year’s membership – see https://avsfhg.org.uk/membership/ and Zooming is free.
