Following on from a successful event in 2023, we are back and this year’s event will be more informative and better than ever.

Who is it for?:

People living with dementia and their carers, those supporting them (in a professional or voluntary capacity) and anyone concerned about their memory.

We would like to warmly invite you to our drop-in style event which will be held during Carers Week, facilitated by the Suffolk Dementia Action Partnership and Care Development East.

The focus of the event will be to showcase the wide range of information, advice and support available to people living with dementia and their carers in Suffolk, to help people get the right support, from the right people, at the right time.

The event will consist primarily of marketplace stalls from organisations and groups supporting people living with dementia and their carers within Suffolk.

Alongside the marketplace, there will also be keynote sessions on topics including how to live well with dementia from those with lived experience.

Main Room:

· Opening remarks: 10:00 - Cllr Rebecca Hopfensperger, Richard Watson, Deputy Director NHS Suffolk and North East Essex, Integrated Care Board

· Stallholders open to visit: 10:10 - 16:00.

· Activities room for people with Dementia open 10:00 - 16:00.

Activities Room:

The activities room will be a facilitated environment with activities for people with dementia to allow their carers time to look at the stalls and attend the presentations. It is free to attend, although not essential booking is strongly advised.

Bucklesham Room: Presentations

· Safeguarding and mental capacity - what should be in place at what time: 10:30 - 11:00 followed by “Ask the experts” until 11:20

· Living grief: what support is there for carers and families: 11:30 - 12:00 followed by “Ask the experts” until 12:20

· Living Well with Dementia: 12:30 - 13:00 - Peter Berry and Deb Bunt authors of “Slow Puncture: Living Well with Dementia”

· Living Well with dementia in the community: 13:05 - 14:00

· Living Well with dementia the facts: 14:05 - 14:20

· Followed by “Ask the experts”: 14:30 - 15:00

Nacton Room: Information Sessions for Carers

This will be a space for carers and families to join professionals and the voluntary sector organisations to have the opportunity to discuss topics such as finances and planning for the future.

Foxhall Room:

This will be a private space for any member of the public to discuss any topics or concerns they wish in a confidential space with our experts.

Parking:

Ample free parking is available close to the Conference and Event Centre including Disabled Parking and will be clearly signposted on arrival at the venue. There will be a designated drop off area for anyone who needs additional support whilst a carer or family member need to park.

Refreshments:

Tea and coffee will be available throughout the day. Lunch will not be provided, however drinks and food can be purchased if required from the onsite bar and food vans.
