Work will begin on the Saxtead Road on July 15th for three weeks to improve drainage and to provide better highway support; the works will comprise of: Replacement of entire piped culvert across the carriageway, 30m of new double thick concrete bag-work as highway support, kerbing, and localised ditch cleaning.
The times and dates of works may change depending on the weather conditions. Work on site will be carried out weekdays between 9am and 3pm Monday to Friday. During this time the roads below will be closed to through traffic:
A1120 Saxtead Road, Dennington – from junction with Swainston Way to Buttons Hill
A1120 Buttons Hill, Dennington – from Saxtead Road to junction with Spring Lane
During the period of the closure, traffic will be diverted via: B1116, B1119, A1120 and vice versa. Unfortunately, the roads are not wide enough to comply with safety regulations to maintain a safe passing distance for vehicles and a road closure is necessary. There will be 2-way traffic lights in place at all other times for the duration of the works. It has been confirmed to the Chairman of the Parish Council that the road will be accessible during evening hours (after 4pm to 9am)under the control of traffic lights.
