A huge ‘Thank you’ to all who came along to our organised display this year held on Saturday 3rd November. The event takes a good deal of preparation leading up to the day and we are grateful for the support given by our helpers on the day as we could not hold this withoutyou and for all who attend on the evening to enjoy this family event.

As seems to be the norm for this time of year, we wait with bated breath for the weather forecast, which was not looking good on the run up to the day, but we are pleased to say that conditions where good and the display went ahead with no problems. After expenses a healthy profit of approximately £2,500 was taken during the night which will be placed in the Entertainment Reserve Account to be used for enhancements to the Pageant Field and organised events for the Town.

This year we held a Lucky Number Raffle for all who purchased advanced tickets. The winning ticket was a child ticket (green) number 109. If you are the holder of this ticket your prize of a Fram Bag, 2019 Famlingham Calendar, Chocolates, a light-up Jester hat and a family of 4 ticket to next year’s event can be collected from the Town Council Office in the Old Court House. Photographs taken on the evening by Cllr Simon Garrett can be viewed in our Gallery on

This year we commemorate the 100th anniversary of WW1 and to mark the occasion a new bench has been donated for placement in the churchyard, tea lights will be lit and placed at the alter for each WW1 serviceman name read out and all the handmade knitted poppies donated will be used to decorate the church.
There will be a 2 minute silence at 11am followed by a service in the church. The parade will then reassemble and march to the Market Hill for speeches of Thanks after which the parade will be dismissed.  All are invited to the Conservative Club for refreshments and a curry lunch (for a donation).

It seems that every day a new pot hole is appearing on our roads. This is no laughing matter as they can cause significant damage to drivers vehicles and are a hazard to motorcyclists and pedal cyclists. If you have concerns about a particular section of road Suffolk County Council is your one stop shop for reporting all Highways and Public Rights of Way related problems and issues. Their website is easy to use and is the most direct way to report all non-emergency faults and matters of concern, covering a whole host of categories with anything from verge cutting and trees to damaged roads and missing signs etc. Type in SCC’s website address: or click on the SCC Logo below. Once on their site, click on the Report icon, a category list will appear which will enable you to scroll left and right to find the relevant category to choose and click. Once the page has loaded, follow the instructions on how best to proceed. It is necessary to have the precise location and if possible a photograph of the concern is beneficial. After reporting your issue online as long as you have given your correct contact details you will be sent an email confirming receipt of your report. However, any problems deemed as causing an immediate danger to public safety should be reported on the following emergency telephone number: 0345 606 6171.
